Hello!
Here’s a report on the 27th TAS Program.
Today we visited the Deaf & Mute School at Ashram Road, Ahmedabad.
As usual, we were accorded a warm welcome by the authorities and we were guided to hall for the multi media program. Today we had to show the slides first as they had to go home before the sunset. Children from 5th standard to 9th standards slowly gathered.
The poster display was set up for the students to explore the mysteries of the solar system at their own pace. And we watched them peruse the information in their sign language with each other.
The authority called few dedicated teachers to support me during the show. Since, we conducted one program with deaf & mute students we were aware of the challenge ahead. Nearly all the slides fascinated them, as they never thought of such beautiful worlds away from mother earth. Teachers really did excellent job today with sign language.
The program then shifted to the open ground to observe Venus. They were particularly amazed to see that we could identify the Venus in broad daylight at around 6 pm, when they couldn’t see anything but blue sky. One by one they were thanking us for the life time memories.
They all filled letter of appreciation and we left the place with wonderful experience.
We acknowledge the gracious support of the following people in making this program a success: the authority for allowing us, Mr Upadhyay and guiding teachers, Stephen Samuel for set up and Urvi Vyas for photo documentation. We thank them all for their interest.
