Dear friends,
First of all let me wish you happy new year. The Dawn of IYA 2009 was celebrated in great way today morning. There were nearly 500 students (so many with parents too), few teachers and amateur astronomers.
All gathered at Kankaria Lake, Maninagar, Ahmedabad. The lake is renovated few weeks back and the morning breeze was adding value to the ambiance.
I briefed all about real cause behind celebrating the IYA and nearly 400 balloons were released by students and welcomed new year in novel way. One student brought guitar, he played welcome song and then all observed the SUN through my telescope with safe filter.
